gela has been with us for just over 18 months. Angela first started All in All Parties – The Hills and now runs All in All Parties – Townsville. Below we get to know her a bit more and she shares some hints and tips for moving and starting a business while working around the kids
Tell us a bit about yourself? I am a mother of three children who always keep me very busy with all their activities. I am a qualified primary school teacher, but I only do a few relief days so I can concentrate most of my energies on party planning. We moved to Townsville in January just before the floods which thankfully we were lucky enough to mostly avoid in our area. I love being a Mum and a small business owner, and in my spare time I love to go for walks, watch movies and catch up with friends.
You have recently moved from Sydney to Townsville, do you have any top tips on the moving process? Yes, use the opportunity to declutter your home and start your new life with only the things you love and need. Moving is expensive, so the less you take the better. Even if you have some rooms without furniture or walls without pictures for a while, it is better to surround yourself with only things that make you happy.
What is your favourite party theme and do you see any new trends coming through this year? My favourite theme has always been Enchanted Forest as it is so versatile. You can use it for boys and girls parties, young and older children. You can put a fairy spin and make fairy gardens or go the woodland creatures way and have teepee tents and make it ‘camping style’. But in saying all of that our ‘Rainbows and Unicorns’ theme is still a very popular theme.
You started All in All Parties – The Hills/Townsville with 3 kids, do you have any words of advice for others looking to run a small business around their kids? Definitely find something you love to do. I love being creative and making party spaces beautiful but I equally love the planning side of the business and get such a buzz when it all comes together on the day. Forming relationships with other businesses and working together is very rewarding and beneficial also. Buying a franchise is a good option as it has usually been tried and tested and you have the support ongoing you need.
